2009 Addition: The Dark Side of ThetaHealing

Dear Reader,

I used to be a ThetaHealing practitioner and instructor, and this site promoted ThetaHealing. Now I sadly have experienced ThetaHealing's dark side, and so this site has become an informational expose of ThetaHealing where you can read about my experience and that of hundreds of others who have been harmed in some way by ThetaHealing.

The content of this site represents only our opinions, which freedom of speech gives us the right to speak out. To avoid any confusion, please understand that I am no longer associated with ThetaHealing in any way nor with ThetaHealing founder Vianna Stibal.

It has come to my attention that “Creator”—the energy that ThetaHealing utilizes to do all of its healings—is not a benevolent energy and is not the actual creative energy of the universe that it is supposed to be. It has turned out to be a parasitic entity that is installed into ThetaHealing practitioners and then masquerades as God or the All that Is.

While “Creator” helps you to do healings, belief work, manifestations, etc., it extracts an energetic price for this. I've received information that back in the 1990’s Vianna Stibal, the founder of ThetaHealing, had a shamanic experience in which “Creator” approached her and agreed to help her achieve wealth and fame in exchange for her installing into her practitioners an energetic link with “Creator” that would enable “Creator” to feed off of the practitioners’ energy in exchange for doing healings. (I believe this was presented to her in such a way that it sounded like a good thing for all concerned, but I and many others have found it not to be so.) This installation happens pretty much automatically if you take the ThetaHealing courses and thus start calling on “Creator.” It is especially strengthened in the Advanced DNA course where you get so many energy downloads associated with “Creator.”

If you are a ThetaHealer, “Creator” is very difficult for you to detect as an entity because within the framework of ThetaHealing it does not show up as a psychic attachment or other parasitic entity. It is easily confused with God and becomes almost like a part of yourself. All of the ThetaHealing techniques assume a symbiotic relationship with it, instead of the parasitic reality.

The ThetaHealing courses stress the need for practitioners to get extra nutrition—especially extra minerals—when they do ThetaHealing. This is actually because of the strain associated with going “up” to the “seventh plane” to be with “Creator.” So you get good therapeutic results in return for a depletion of energy—this is the nature of the exchange with Creator. This is a parasitic relationship, not commensalism, certainly not a symbiotic relationship. But you may not notice this depletion until you try to leave ThetaHealing and “Creator,” which “Creator” does not like. Interestingly, the “Creator” attachments tend most often to come into the chest, the same place that the Haitian voodoo priests put their energetic drains.

It was when I broke with ThetaHealing that “Creator” started really tugging on me, and I found that “Creator” could not be removed with the techniques that ThetaHealing teaches you to remove psychic attachments (which is not surprising). My husband Dean, who is a powerful healer, found the attachments and removed them with his QXCI/EPFX/SCIO and the Karl Welz ’ radionic treatments (Power Radionics).

My husband and my niece Vanessa both offer these clearings now to anyone who wants to remove the “Creator” entity from them. You can email me at TrishaHowell@gmail.com if you would like to find out the details of having this done.

Since I’ve told people about my experiences with “Creator,”—of getting psychically attacked when I pulled away from Creator—many people have emailed me telling me that they have had a similar experience. Sure enough, Dean and I have then found the “Creator” entity attached to them, and they have felt much better when we removed it.

We have not been finding the attachment in lay people who receive ThetaHealing but only in the practitioners. If you want to learn ThetaHealing practitioner techniques, read below BUT be sure instead of calling on Creator that you instead call on God, Universal Chi or some other benevolent force to assist you.

Love, Trisha

P.S. The below descriptions are a rewrite (in light of what I've now found out) of what originally appeared on this website when I was a ThetaHealing teacher and practitioner. i am no longer either, and I have no affiliation with ThetaHealing, Vianna Stibal, of Nature's Path of Idaho.

Introduction to ThetaHealing

ThetaHealing is a simple yet potentially powerful system of healing assembled by Idaho intuitive Vianna Stibal in the late 1990’s. It is based primarily on Vianna’s experiences as a Religious Scientist (www.religiousscience.org aka Science of Mind), but is also influenced by her study of the Bible, alternative medicine systems of muscle testing, Dr. Robert V. Gerard’s DNA Activation (an extensive method he developed from a few lines of notes at Vianna’s request: see www.oughten-house.com), methods of changing subconscious beliefs and feelings in various personal growth techniques (similar ones I’ve experienced include EFT, Psych-K. and Defusion), shamanism, numerous psychic development techniques, certain simplified medical textbooks, and more.

By bringing all of these pre-existing elements together into a single technique, Vianna created a simplified method of healing that many have reported benefits from. Vianna has laid out the principles and processes of ThetaHealing in her book ThetaHealing (which is actually the whole Basic DNA course in written form).and in her course manuals (see below for a discussion of the various ThetaHealing courses).

ThetaHealing works with an energy known as Creator, which Vianna says is God but which I and others have found out is a parasitic entity that sucks practitioners' energy in exchange for helping you perform energetic healings.

There is a powerful, mysterious, and intelligent life force both inside and outside of us which every creature shares. It is both the infinite that is outside of us and the infinite within us: what is beyond the known universe and what is at the heart of each of our atoms. It cannot be put into words.ThetaHealing identifies this with Creator. Practitioners believe that this is what they are contacting when they call on Creator.

But words both create and contact particular energies (“In the beginning was the Word…” John 1:1). And so (mediated by Vianna’s conceptions, which are installed in practitioners during training via energetic downloads about Creator), Creator designates and contacts an entity that is not God or the All when practitioners call on it. Sometimes ThetaHealing does produce impressive healings via a partnership with the "Creator," but there is an energetic price for the practitioner.

ThetaHealing is often a first step for those pursuing personal growth and healing because it is so easy to learn and to use and because seemingly profound and positive life changes can occur in people in as little as one private session or one weekend of training.

One thing to be aware of is that Vianna deliberately promotes a guru-like atmosphere around her and her work, and I have discovered that many people who have taken ThetaHealing training have, without realizing it, absorbed some version of one or more of the following subconscious beliefs: “I should obey Vianna,” “Vianna must be obeyed,” “Vianna has the best connection to God,” etc. Being aware of this may help you to avoid taking on these subconscious beliefs, which limit your natural autonomy and power. If you choose to study ThetaHealing, you must take appropriate precautions. It is difficult, though, to take ThetaHealing without taking in the Creator entity.

ThetaHealing is a simple method of connecting with Creator then commanding and witnessing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual changes in yourself or in others. The ThetaHealing practitioner goes into a particular meditative state (Theta brainwave) and channels healing energies tailored to the client’s specific needs into the client’s energy field. Vianna has added many other elements (some of which are unfortunately inaccurate) to this simple process, which is the heart of ThetaHealing. But this is the basic technique for producing results and has much in common with prayer and visualization techniques. When done without utilizing Creator, such a process can be a safe way of making subconscious belief and feeling changes, though I find it insufficient in itself to make the most profound lasting changes.

ThetaHealing is essentially a method of supercharged meditation/prayer that teaches the practitioner how to utilize Creator to change limiting conscious and subconscious beliefs, to intuit what is going on inside the human body, to perform physical/emotional/mental/spiritual healings, to download teachings about anything, and to manifest things in your life.

The real strength of ThetaHealing is in the mental/emotional/spiritual changes (both conscious and subconscious) that it can facilitate. Some people who receive ThetaHealing are able to let go of many past traumas, upsets, and fears. They may change fundamental beliefs and feelings that have been holding them back most of their lives. They may embrace new and empowering ways of approaching their lives that they had previously not even conceived of. And more.

ThetaHealing can also address any physical condition, though I have seen the most complete results when the condition involves emotional and mental components. ThetaHealing can have a significant effect on nervous system, immune, and hormonal challenges (it’s particularly effective for allergies) because of the intimate link between the emotions, the central nervous system, the immune system, and the endocrine system (hormones). See Candice Pert’s work on Psychoneuroimmunology in her book Molecules of Emotion. Here she discusses, among other things, how Neuropeptides (the body’s chemical messengers) are strongly affected by emotions.

Vianna claims in her book, ThetaHealing and elsewhere to have used ThetaHealing to heal instantly from a serious lymphatic cancer that plagued her in the mid-1990’s. This claim is, in fact, the foundation of ThetaHealing's authority, and teachers are required to teach it as so in their classes. However, I have it on good authority from several people close to Vianna that no such instant healing took place. Rather Vianna made a gradual recovery using nutrition, supplementation, and detoxification techniques.

Vianna has conducted thousands of ThetaHealing private sessions and now mostly devotes herself to teaching ThetaHealing courses. There are an estimated over 30,000 people worldwide who have taken at least the Basic DNA class and more than 1,000 who have been trained as instructors.

I was an Advanced ThetaHealing and Intuitive Anatomy practitioner and an instructor in Basic DNA, Advanced DNA, Manifesting & Abundance, and Rainbow Children. However, I am no longer teaching ThetaHealing, initially because my time became filled with practicing and teaching the more powerful healing/personal growth/transformational work I developed, Lifonics (www.Lifonics.com) Once I began developing these techniques, Vianna felt threatened and cancelled my teaching certification. I did not mind this since, in the process of an email discussion with her that is displayed on this website (see above ThetaHealing and Freedom).

ThetaHealing gets its name from the Theta brainwave, which vibrates at 4-7 cycles per second. This is the state you’re normally in at night when you’re first dreaming and also when you’re in deep hypnosis or are having a profound experience of oneness with nature. It is a state in which you can have easy access to the contents of your subconscious mind and are also more fully connected to the basic life energy of the universe.

ThetaHealing uses the fact that you can learn to go into the Theta brainwave while remaining awake. Then you can see more clearly what is going on inside your body and mind as well as produce profound changes in your subconscious beliefs, in the health of your body, in what you know and how you feel, and in what you manifest in your life. There are many forms of healing that use the Theta brainwave, which is why Vianna has not been able to register a trademark on the term Theta Healing or ThetaHealing.

Like all cutting-edge personal growth techniques, ThetaHealing acknowledges that our beliefs and consequent feelings generate our reality. Our beliefs and feelings are magnetic forces that attract to or repel things from us. The Law of Attraction, popularized by the movie and book The Secret, states that the vivid imagination of concrete sensory details actually causes their manifestation in our lives---because the universe attracts to us all things that are in harmony with the mental and emotional energies we project.

This occurs with all people constantly, whether they are aware of it or not. Many people are not aware of how much negativity and other limiting circumstances they create in their lives by giving such things their attention, that is, by giving them mental and emotional energy. The more vividly and frequently something is imagined, the more energy is created for it to manifest in 3-D reality.

This is not a theory; it is a law of the (energetic) universe. Like energies attract like energies. Create energy with your mind and emotions, and the universe “answers” by reflecting back to you the same kind of energy. (See Esther and Jerry Hicks’ excellent Ask and It Is Given for a more detailed discussion of this. Also, note Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 7:7—“Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.”). And the better you craft your energetic ideas, the more elaborate the universe’s response will be.

The catch is, our subconscious mind puts out energy of enormous magnitude, dwarfing whatever dreams, wishes, and plans our conscious mind projects. Crippling and limiting beliefs in the subconscious prevent us from manifesting what we consciously want. Therefore, however inspiring it may be, it is not enough to watch or read The Secret—and the dozens of other books published on this basic law of nature—unless you access and improve the contents of your subconscious mind.

This is one of many reasons why ThetaHealing and other similar techniques can be so effective in making changes--when not only the conscious but the subconscious mind changes, you can get lasting results.

How is ThetaHealing performed? There are many processes, but the most fundamental one (on which all others are based) is outlined below to give you a general idea.

First, you identify any limiting subconscious beliefs you or your client may have through energetic testing. Most practitioners find that muscle testing the body works well.

Second, you—or your practitioner—meditate briefly in a particular way to “ground” your energy. Most people find this easy to do.

Third, you enter into a conscious Theta brainwave and energetically travel to Creator. This is the step that should be avoided to prevent an energetic drain on you. instead, expand into the large being you truly are (we are all holograms of the entire universe: both a part of and the whole universe, so step into the consciousness of yourself as the whole) and witness (imagine, feel) changes from there.

Fourth, you command (or, without Creator, just intend) a change in your or your client’s subconscious beliefs, feelings, knowledge, or health state, being careful to use appropriate positive word choices and phrasing for optimal subconscious effect.

Finally, you (using your empowered imagination) actually energetically witness the transformation of the subconscious programs taking place.

It can be a reading, teaching, belief change, manifestation, or healing that the practitioner commands and witnesses. The components of this process are discussed further below.

What ThetaHealing Did for Me

At first the practice of ThetaHealing seemed to have positive effects on my relationships, my career as a writer and actor, and my beliefs and feelings within myself. I do think that my and others' ThetaHealing work on myself produced tangible emotional and mental benefits, but it was at the price of a drain on my energy.

During the two years I was practicing ThetaHealing nearly full-time, the following occurred:

  • My hair went from no gray to about half gray.
  • I gained 25 pounds while actually eating less and exercising more than before.
  • I experienced rapid disc degeneration in my lower back, making it hard sometimes to even lift my leg enough to put on my pants and socks.
  • I felt progressively more fatigued and could not work at the pace I used to (though I still worked at a much faster pace than most people).
  • My fibroid tumors ballooned out extraordinarily rapidly—from being barely detectable on an ultrasound to being together the size of a small baby when they were removed August 2008.
  • My psoriasis failed to improve and in some ways got worse, despite extensive ThetaHealing on it.
  • I had increasing constipation.
  • I experienced more sickness than I ever had in my life previously. (I had never been before a person to get colds, flus, upset stomach, etc.)
  • I developed full-blown breast cancer the size of a cantaloupe in my left breast and lymph nodes literally over night. All doctors I consulted with said this is medically impossible. It should have taken 5-10 years to grow to that size. (A thorough gynecological exam just a few months before found my breasts to be totally normal.) I consulted with 4 psychics without telling them anything about me. They all said it was manifested in me by a healer couple in Idaho who wanted me dead. By the way, the left breast is the one where my husband Dean and numerous others saw the Creator attachment coming into me.

Is this coincidence? Just “normal” symptoms of aging? Perhaps, though connecting with Creator depletes minerals and energy in general, and rapid graying is a symptom of mineral deficiency as is disc degeneration. Many people have reported and even Vianna has said that doing ThetaHealing tends to cause weight gain.

As far as fatigue goes, my understanding is that Vianna spends a lot of time in bed and often gets up just to teach her courses. I have been told that she has a big bag of pharmaceuticals she carries around to help her (why not do ThetaHealing on herself instead if it really works?)

Fibroids are a symptom of hormone imbalance and liver weakness (it can’t break down the monthly hormone spike). Psoriasis is primarily a fungal problem. Constipation related to nervous system imbalance, and sickness in general is brought on in conjunction with a compromised immune system. Cancer is also related to a compromised immune system and to emotional stress/negativity coming one's way. All of these are related to the body’s internal terrain being out of balance—something exacerbated by energy being drained from the body.

Since I have quit practicing ThetaHealing and am doing Lifonics (the healing work I developed):

  • My hair seems less gray.
  • I am losing weight effortlessly without changing my diet or my exercise patterns, though I definitely am eating less food because my appetite is less.
  • My back feels better. I can lift my legs up without discomfort to dress.
  • I’m gaining more energy.
  • (My fibroids have been surgically removed, so nothing to report on them.)
  • My psoriasis has almost gone away.
  • I am having regular large bowel movements.
  • I have fully removed the Creator attachment and all other attachments Vianna and Guy Stibal had placed in me and am on an extensive natural program to dis-create the cancer.
  • After an initial really nasty illness (it felt like swine flu) while I was pulling away from Creator—and after having the Creator entity removed from within and around my energy field—I am feeling an increasing sense of ongoing well-being and wellness in my body despite the cancer.

Is this coincidence? I don’t think so. I felt a deep though subtle shift in my being when the Creator entity was removed. It was as if an important part of me that had been gone the whole time I did ThetaHealing had returned. Part of this was a true independence and discernment coming back in. Another part was a feeling of more energy within, probably because my energy was no longer being drained by Creator.

Muscle Testing

The ThetaHealing process begins with accurate muscle testing. Many of us are familiar with some form of muscle testing. For much of my life, I have asked “yes” and “no” questions and got answers from my body: I used my hands to feel if my fingers or arms held strong (yes) or went weak (no) when I made a statement.

The reason this works is our subconscious mind is very intertwined with our body. You don’t have to think about breathing or your heart pumping blood. Your subconscious mind takes care of it. Even when you voluntarily raise your arm, it is your subconscious mind that coordinates all the muscle interactions to make this possible.

So, it was discovered that if you make a statement your subconscious mind agrees with, it temporarily makes your muscles stronger. And if you make a statement your subconscious mind disagrees with, it temporarily makes your muscles weaker.

Some health practitioners use arm strength for such testing, and others use pendulums instead. Both utilize muscular reactions to test the subconscious body’s response. Any muscle group can be used because your whole body gets temporarily stronger when you even think a thought that resonates with what your body/subconscious mind believes, and your whole body gets temporarily weaker when you think a thought that does not. (Hence the importance of what you are thinking moment to moment to the health of your body—you must be in harmony with yourself!)

It’s important to understand that muscle testing isn’t a test of the truth of the statement about an issue. Instead it is a test of your subconscious’ belief about that issue. This belief may or may not be correct, though it is often more likely to be correct than conscious guessing. You can’t, for example, use muscle testing completely reliably to find out what food or supplements you should take. Muscle testing tests only your body’s subconscious opinion about the food or supplement. Realize that the subconscious is not all-knowing. It can be correct, and it can be wrong. However, your body usually knows better than your conscious mind what food or supplements it needs.

Your subconscious beliefs are very important because they determine what kind of energy you attract into and repel from your life. It is not so much a question of whether they are true or false in an absolute sense but rather whether they serve to attract good feelings and experiences into your life or the opposite. Your subconscious beliefs are not an objective reality tester but a means for manifesting your reality: they make true/real for you what they contain.

If you subconsciously believe that you are happy, free, loving, creative, etc., these are the experiences that you will attract and make realities in your life. This ability that we all have to thereby change our reality on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level is the basis for the successes of ThetaHealing and of other similar healing modalities, such as Religious Science. Every person is a powerful creator beyond what most of us have imagined.

Your body knows exactly what your subconscious beliefs are about every issue. These beliefs may or may not serve you. And they may be unified or contradictory. (Most of us have at least some contradictory subconscious beliefs, causing disharmony on multiple levels.) ThetaHealing and other similar modalities have found that whenever there is anything in your life that is imperfect, then there is at least one limiting belief in your subconscious. You can change that belief with ThetaHealing and with other similar modalities.

More Details About Muscle Testing

One muscle testing technique used in ThetaHealing involves a simple standing muscle test: observe the swaying of your whole body as it tilts forward (yes) or back (no) while listening to or repeating statements that have yes/no answers. Although this will work when you are facing any direction, it seems at first to produce a stronger, more easily identifiable result when you face magnetic north.

Before testing yourself, make sure that you are well hydrated and well mineralized because your body will thereby respond more clearly to the muscle testing. Drink one or more glasses of pure water with your favorite mineral drops added. If you body still isn’t hydrated enough, you can place the palms of your hands over your kidneys (stretching down below the last rib on your back) and apply firm pressure for about 30 seconds. This will temporarily trick your body into thinking that it is well hydrated so that you can test correctly.

Stand as tall as possible while feeling relaxed and balanced. Your toes should point straight forward, with your legs placed hip width apart. Imagine your legs are two stilts, with your upper body floating freely above them.

Then you are advised to “zip up your field.” Since you are affected by the energy that surrounds you, ThetaHealing says you can temporarily neutralize this effect through a mental visualization---take one hand and, starting from a few inches in front of you and below your groin, pull that hand up the center line of your body until you reach above the crown of your head, imagining that you are zipping up a big zipper. Then let your hand drop back to your side. This shield or energy bubble supposedly prevents your test results from being affected by the thoughts and beliefs of others. You may repeat this periodically during your session as necessary.

Some people have, for whatever reason, a reversed polarity. This means they test backwards, leaning forward for “no” and backward for “yes.” ThetaHealing says that this can usually be corrected by lightly tapping on the top of their head with first the back and then the palm of your hand, followed by having them (or you, if you are testing yourself) zip up their field.

If you do all this and still don’t get accurate results in your muscle testing, you may have some conscious or subconscious beliefs around muscle testing that need to be changed (like that it is unsafe or doesn’t work) or you may lack muscle testing skills. ThetaHealing and other such energetic healing methods can teach you how to test clearly, what it feels like, and give you the requisite skills.

A ThetaHealing practitioner can quickly identify and, with your permission, change these issues so that you can test clearly. Nothing takes place in ThetaHealing without you giving your permission. This is not only out of respect for your free agency but also because your subconscious mind is more likely to reject any change to which you have not given your verbal assent.

To see if you are testing accurately, hydrate yourself, zip up your field, and stand in the way described above facing north. Say “I am a man” and see whether your body sways forward (yes) or back (no). Also test “I am a woman.” If you are a person who feels s/he is both, you can test instead something like “My name is (your name)” and “My name is Donald Duck.” Or “I am a human being” and “I am an insect” or something else for which the answer is clear.

There is a difference between letting the earth’s magnetism take you back and forth and pushing yourself backward and forward. The first way you are allowing your body/subconscious mind to express what it believes and the second you are consciously controlling the outcome. Obviously, you want to let your body “speak.” To feel the difference, go ahead now and use conscious effort to push your body forward and backward. You will feel how different this is from true muscle testing, especially in your toes; they will move more and have tension.

Once you’re testing clearly and accurately on things you know the answer to, you can test any yes/no statement and see what your subconscious mind believes about it. Vianna and many other people have developed long lists of beliefs to test – fundamental beliefs that either cause us unnecessary self-limitation and unhappiness or bring us great power and happiness. A ThetaHealing practitioner can help you pull out the first sort of belief and replace it with the second.

Here are some good beliefs to start with in muscle testing yourself. You will want to have all of these:

  • I am worthy of infinite love and God’s/the All's love
  • God/the All loves me unconditionally
  • I know what it feels like to be completely, unconditionally loved
  • I know what it feels like and how to love completely, unconditionally

  • I have everything I need to make good decisions
  • I make good decisions
  • My life positively flows with grace and ease
  • I release all (test each of these individually): anger, frustration, sadness, grief, pain, self/other hatred, self/other loathing, violence, resentment, grudges, guilt, shame, humiliation, defeat, failure, powerlessness, disappointment, fear, anxiety, worry, trauma, vengeance, having to be right, regret, blockages, feelings of being abandoned or rejected, confusion, depression, envy/jealousy, self/other negative judgment/criticism, self/other sabotage, self/other punishment, struggle, victimhood, workaholism, and any other negative/limiting beliefs that no longer serve me

If you are missing any of these, ThetaHealing and other similar healing techniques can clear out anything standing in the way and then install them into your subconscious mind, which will also enable them to take hold in your conscious mind, if you so choose.

After you receive new resources and feelings, it’s up to you whether you choose to live them or not. Where your subconscious mind limited and compelled you before, you now have the freedom to decide. This is very empowering!

Connecting with Creator

To see Vianna’s specific methods of connecting with Creator, please read her book, ThetaHealing. Below is my interpretation of one way of doing so.

But, again, I would advise you NOT to connect with Creator (a parasitic entity) but instead to expand into the fullness of your being and work from there. If you wish to do this, skip the bulleted points listed below.

  • Feel the essence of who you are around or above your heart chakra, allowing your full consciousness to enter that space by imagining/feeling that your thoughts fall into your heart then imagining/feeling your spirit above and your soul below entering this energy bubble.
  • Allow your bubble to slide down your body and out the bottom of your feet, travelling through the floor, building, soil, rocks, underground streams, etc. to the center of the earth where it bathes in nurturing mother earth energy.
  • Bring this energy back with you as your bubble rises up through the bottom of your feet and floats up your body. Imagine/feel the mother earth energy clearing, energizing, balancing and strengthening each of your major 7 chakras as it ascends.
  • Imagine/feel your energy bubble going out the top of your head and shooting infinitely upwards, perhaps passing all the light and darkness as it soars outside of the known universe.
  • Imagine/feel that you see a door of pearlescent light up ahead, and you move toward then step through it, bathing in and absorbing the light. This light is Creator.
  • Imagine/feel this light energy permeating every cell of your body and every fiber of your being. You may stay here as long as you like and return to this space any time you wish simply by imagining/feeling that you are here. From here you can command and witness profound transformations.

When you have connected with Creator, or, preferably, simply imagined grounding yourself and expanding into the fullness of who you truly are, you can command/request and witness an energy reading, teaching, belief/feeling change, manifestation, or healing. The practitioner has the client muscle test herself (or tests her directly himself, which involves an assisted finger or arm-based muscle testing process) to find out what has or hasn’t changed and then proceeds accordingly, digging and making changes until all issues in that area are resolved.

Even if you don’t ask Creator for anything, consciously “hanging out” in the Theta brainwave while being in the “place” where Creator is for only 5 minutes a day will supposedly, over time, cure all physical and emotional maladies, according to ThetaHealing founder Vianna Stibal. I have not found this to be the case. This place, which Vianna calls the Seventh Plane of existence, is according to her such a powerful, high frequency energy that no ailment can reportedly survive in its presence, since all disease and negative emotions vibrate at a relatively low frequency. However, I know many, many ThetaHealers who do this and are still unhealthy.

Perhaps 5 minutes a day is not enough time to permanently establish the new frequency in your body.  Or perhaps because Creator is not God/the All but only pretends to be such, you cannot in this way access a truly healing frequency.

If you want to raise your overall frequency and heal from illness, I suggest instead using the Bodie Box, which—with its 92 programs you can choose from—bathes you in high frequencies specific to whatever physical, mental, or emotional issue you are dealing with. At 20-60 minutes a day, the Bodie Box rapidly creates lasting change in a short time. It is small, portable, easy to operate, and you can use it while you do other things. Check it out at www.BodieBox.com

Commanding and Witnessing Lasting Changes

Once you’ve learned how to directly connect with Creator (or preferably to consciously expand into the larger being you truly are) and to magnify this by going into an ever deeper Theta wave brain state (the closer you get to four cycles per second while staying awake/conscious, the more powerful your results will be), much of ThetaHealing training is in framing the most effective requests—which are called “commands” in order to alert the subconscious mind that they definitely are happening—and in learning how to most powerfully witness Creator performing them.

This is where ThetaHealing connects with Quantum Physics. You’ve probably heard that light can behave like a particle or a wave, depending on how it’s being observed. Also, other experiments done by physicists, including the famous Schrödinger’s cat experiment, indicate that reality actually changes depending on whether and how it is being observed. The universe is a huge array of possibilities that become actualities when we witness them.

So, in response to the old question, “Does a tree falling in the forest make a sound if no one hears it?”, the answer is no. Reality depends on what we observe and how we observe it, individually and collectively.

While this may seem alarming at first glance, it is actually very empowering. Each of us gets to decide what reality we want to create and experience, both by the situations we attract and by how we respond to those situations.

With ThetaHealing and other such energy healing techniques, we can make instant changes in what we believe, feel, and think about/focus on as well as in what kinds of experiences we draw to ourselves. We can also download, for our own use, any insight, knowledge, or even creativity that exists in the universe. We can heal ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We can download additional teachings and alter any beliefs necessary so that all of these changes remain permanent.

There are an infinite number of readings, teachings, healings, and other manifestations possible through ThetaHealing and other similar healing modalities.

Doing energy readings on oneself or others (a skill that is practiced through a three-week ThetaHealing course called Intuitive Anatomy) is a great way to (with permission) drop into someone’s energy and see what is happening on all levels. This gives insight into what knowledge and skills are missing (which can then be taught/downloaded) and what areas need to be healed.

Unfortunately, the Intuitive Anatomy course is the one most riddled with errors. Vianna, who claims to be a naturopath but is not, makes huge factual errors in that course manual that are plain to those who know anatomy and physiology. Some of her health recommendations are actually dangerous, so you must research everything in the course manual on your own before implementing any of it.

There are literally more than 1,000 empowering beliefs in the Advanced DNA manual that you can choose to embrace when you take that course. Various skills are also taught in the ThetaHealing Basic and Advanced DNA trainings that can change your DNA and expand your life in a variety of ways (see “What You Learn in ThetaHealing Training” below). After taking these courses and clearing whatever beliefs are in your way, you are able to more easily manifest what you imagine and truly want.

One of the trickiest and yet most essential parts of ThetaHealing training is learning how to quickly and effectively dig to find bottom beliefs. A bottom belief is the ultimate foundation on which many other beliefs rest.

When you uncover a limiting belief in your ThetaHealing session and it doesn’t easily clear, there is usually another belief supporting it that must first be uncovered and released. When you clear a bottom belief, then all the beliefs resting on top of it either clear on their own or can then be instantly cleared when addressed. In this way, you can make very rapid progress.

However, ThetaHealing does not emphasize the need to clear the traumas that underly and in the first place bring such negative and otherwise limiting beliefs and feelings into existence. If you decide to do belief and feelings clearings, focus on finding and allowing to shift the trauma(s) that underly(ies) them.

One way to find a bottom belief and especially a bottom fear is to keep asking yourself, “What is the worst thing that would happen if x happened?” with x being the limiting belief or fear you have uncovered and want to get to the bottom of. When you get the answer to that question and it is, say, y, then you continue the process by asking, “What is the worst thing that would happen if y happened?”

If you don’t know, then just guess, asking yourself, “If I did know, what would it be?” or “If I were writing a story about a person just like myself, what would it be for them?” In all cases, you do know (subconsciously) even if you think you don’t, and this is how you find out consciously. Or, if you are more experienced with ThetaHealing, you can simply ask Creator or preferably your larger self, “What key bottom beliefs are holding this belief system intact?”

When you get to the bottom belief, you will often feel an emotional reaction or you will have a sense that you have reached the bottom. Common bottom beliefs include (the fear of):

  • Losing love
  • Being disconnected from God/the All
  • Becoming nothing

Changing bottom beliefs usually involves:

  • Clearing past trauma, fear, or upset (which act like ice in a person’s system, preventing healthful change)
  • Then teaching yourself or your client (i.e., downloading) a belief, feeling, or skill that is lacking.

You then:

  • Download Creator’s or preferably God's.the All's/the highest definition, perspective, and understanding of the belief, feeling or issue you are dealing with and make yours/the client’s definition, perspective, and understanding the same

This usually entails showing you/them that with the new belief, feeling, or skill you/they are:

  • Good enough
  • Worthy
  • Deserving
  • Safe
  • Loved

And know:

  • What it feels like
  • How to embrace it
  • That you/they have the right to it
  • That nothing bad will happening with it
  • Who you/they are with the new belief/feeling
  • How to live your/their daily life with the new belief/feeling
  • How to live your/their daily life without having to hold onto the limiting bottom belief or the trauma/fear/upset from it
  • What it feels like to release the belief/trauma/fear/upset/other negative feeling

And then:

  • Command and witness releasing that belief/trauma/fear/upset/other negative feeling

This process—which is called belief and feeling work—can be done regarding any issue in your or your client’s life. For more details, see Vianna’s book ThetaHealing (which is actually the whole Basic DNA course in written form) or other disciplines like EFT and Psych-K that focus on shifting subconscious beliefs and feelings.

What to Expect After You’ve Received a ThetaHealing

You may feel a shift, or you may not feel anything in particular during or right after your session. Your energy will have changed, whether you feel it or not, and this will manifest in your having different thoughts and reactions in certain life situations than you did before.

Whether you retain your changes depends on several things. One, your practitioner must have reached and changed the bottom limiting belief(s)/feelings(s) for the issues you treated. Also, you must have the appropriate beliefs and downloads that allow you to retain your healing. At the end of your first session, especially, your practitioner may run through a list of such beliefs to make sure that they are all installed.

For example, some of us subconsciously believe that we are not worthy to accept or retain our healing, that it is right to give our healing away to someone needier, that it isn’t safe to stay healed, etc. These negative programs must be pulled and replaced for you to keep your healing.

And at the end of every session, your practitioner will do a download to make sure you retain that day’s healing. This will probably involve integrating everything that has been done, making you and your body comfortable in your new energy, and making sure that you retain your healing now and forever.

Also, you must follow through. Your session may have freed you from limiting past beliefs, but these can be recreated if you choose to react in various situations in the ways you always have before. That is, before your beliefs were changed, you were compelled to react in a certain way in a certain kind of situation. Now, you have the freedom to respond differently. Be aware of that and use it to empower yourself!

A healing can be successful without being a cure. ThetaHealing claims that Creator decides what to actually give the client, and the client decides through the openness of his/her energy what to accept and reject. Also, sometimes what you ask for is not in your highest and best interest, so something different may occur.

The more ThetaHealing you receive, either from yourself or from another practitioner (it’s generally thought to be harder to work on yourself than to work on others, though I haven’t found this to be the case), the more you will feel the cumulative force of these types of changes and the more quickly and effectively you will take on, integrate, and utilize these changes.

The trouble is, I have found that in most cases doing belief and feeling work is not the most effective way to transform trauma or even to most thoroughly change the subconscious programs like beliefs and feelings that need to shift. A completely different approach (like that taken in my Lifonics: www.Lifonics.com), which involves a total change in perspective on what a "problem" is and how to approach it is needed.

What to Expect if You Become a ThetaHealer

ThetaHealers tend to become very enthusiastic and many have a guru-like devotion to founder Vianna Stibal, which can interfere with thinking completely clearly for yourself. Many ThetaHealers implicitly believe that ThetaHealing is the best or only effective avenue of energetic healing. ThetaHealing takes on a cult-like energy for most ThetaHealers I've met.

I've met truly kind and compassionate ThetaHealers, and I've met a disproportionate number who are egotistical and narrow-minded. Like many disciplines, ThetaHealing tends to intensify personality traits that are already present. Some success can be achieved in improving subconscious beliefs and feelings, but often the inability to look clearly at self (the muscle testing results are very colored by pre-existing beliefs--you do not rise above your paradigm when you do ThetaHealing, as Vianna claims) and the failure to address crucial traumas underlying changed beliefs and feelings lead the practitioner to making illusory progress.

Some do report miracle-like recoveries from diseases, and such is the incredible potential power of belief, in both ThetaHealing and in all forms of healing.

Having myself experienced and worked in over 30 healing modalities, I can say that there are many that are safer, more accurate, and more powerful than ThetaHealing. I would recommend that you search for and pursue these rather than risking the dangers of ThetaHealing, especially the energy-draining "Creator" attachment that is installed into ThetaHealers.

However, not all ThetaHealing practices are harmful, and you can adapt much of what you learned (if you have already studied ThetaHealing) into a safer context. The trick is in separating the wheat from the chaff because there are many factual and other mistakes in all ThetaHealing manuals.
